
Ministers and Staff
Our ministers share many years of ministry between them, both in the local church and beyond it. Their experience has included leadership in missions, music, pastoral care, and social work. They work with staff members and other congregational leaders to provide leadership for the activities of our church.

Ministers
Micah joined North Broad as pastor in September 2012. He holds a Master of Divinity from the George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University, a Master of Social Work from Baylor, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. He previously pastored at Englewood Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Micah lives in Rome with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two daughters.
Prissy joined North Broad in August 2011 as Music and Children’s Minister. She earned a bachelor’s in Voice and Choral Conducting from Stetson University and holds a Master of Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prissy has served as a missionary in Fort Worth, Atlanta, Vietnam, and Costa Rica. She has also led music and education in seven prior churches in Florida, Texas, and Georgia. Her family includes four grown children with their own families.

Intern
Giselle joined North Broad as a youth intern in 2024. She is currently a student at Berry College majoring in Biochemistry. She is on track to graduate in spring 2026. Giselle is from Atlanta, Georgia, and she previously attended First Baptist Atlanta.

Staff
Shanda began her work at North Broad in March 2006. She grew up in Rome and attended Berry College. Shanda is married to Chris Douglas, whom she wed in August 2002. They have two daughters and a young granddaughter.
Harold Newman
Pianist
Dr. Newman joined the staff in July 2012. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Furman University and a doctorate in education from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Newman served as provost and then president of Shorter University until he retired from the position in 2011.
