Churches and their members don’t have to serve their communities alone. Rome and the surrounding area are served by many agencies full of kind-hearted staff and volunteers. If you need assistance or want to help others, these are good people to call.

  • The Davies Shelters provide more than a bed to sleep in – we partner with our neighbors experiencing homelessness to develop the tools and skills to overcome homelessness. Our approach is rooted in digging deep to address the patterns and causes that led to a person’s situation, then helping them develop the tools for growth and change.”

  • The Ruth and Naomi House of the Davies Shelter: “The Women’s Shelter has room for eight single women and four women with children. This historic facility includes on-site staff housing, a children’s library and play area, and administrative offices for the Shelter’s staff. It is also adjacent to the Shelter’s new transitional housing units.”

  • Hospitality House ends the cycle of intimate partner violence through prevention, shelter, and individualized services to protect and empower survivors.

“With its origin as a grassroots effort, in 1978, to combat the growing epidemic that is domestic violence, Hospitality House has persevered in the fight to end the cycle and empower survivors. With an original capacity to fill five beds for seven days, our current facility offers 27 beds to women and their children.”

  • Good Neighbor Ministries of Rome, Georgia: “Good Neighbor Ministries provides assistance with utility bills, rent, medical needs, and referrals to the Bagwell Food Pantry. They are devoted to sharing God's love with persons in immediate need in Rome and Floyd County.” Their office location is 208 East Second Street in Rome.

  • Habitat for Humanity-Coosa Valley seeks to reflect God's love by helping partner families achieve safe, decent and affordable housing, while providing opportunities for community partners to use their God-given gifts.”

  • Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries is a nonprofit that provides an extensive network of community partners and volunteers with the tools and expertise to lead fellow Georgians out of poverty. By meeting the basic needs of hunger relief, Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries remove an essential barrier that prevents thousands of Georgians from breaking the cycle of poverty and realizing their full potential.”

  • The Rome-Floyd County Community Soup Kitchen began back in 2000 with just a handful of participants and a minimal budget. We worked hard to grow and develop into the renowned Community Kitchen we are today. Dedication and preparation go hand-in-hand with everything we do.

“Our door is always open to new participants, no matter what their experience level. We are proud to bring together people from all over Rome and Floyd County. Come join our next available volunteer hours—we’d love for you to benefit from all that Rome Community Kitchen has to offer.”

  • The Free Clinic of Rome is a faith based non-profit agency that provides primary health care services for low-income, uninsured patients that live in the greater Rome area. This includes Floyd, Polk, Chattooga, Gordon and Bartow County residents who have no other access to medical care.”
